Simple, but it sounds delicious!I love it when I already have all the ingredients on hand...you know, when it doesn't call for some strange and exotic ingredient???
Just stumbled across your site & it's lovely! I'm in charge of baking up some vintage goodies for a 50s-themed party and I think this cake will be perfect... thanks for the inspiration!
my mom made this cake back in 1965 for a family picnic -- it was still warm when we ate it and is one of my first food memories. I wonder if it was a recipe that was printed on the Quaker Oats box.
As a lover of all things vintage, I write about our cottage home, inspirational decorating, vintage finds, thrifty buys, and old-time recipes. I have many additional interests such as reading, writing, blogging, arts and crafts, and quilting...I write about these interests as well as about family, friends, shelties, nature and hobbies.
