I lived in North Carolina 1987-96, and "discovered" Black Midnight Cake in my Betty Crocker cook book, and it has been used VERY frequently both in North Carolina and in Norway (my homeland). I have never tried anything else than White Mounting Frosting since I started making it - "Italian meringue". Why should I? It is PERFECT! Try it! Love, Marit
As a lover of all things vintage, I write about our cottage home, inspirational decorating, vintage finds, thrifty buys, and old-time recipes. I have many additional interests such as reading, writing, blogging, arts and crafts, and quilting...I write about these interests as well as about family, friends, shelties, nature and hobbies.
Just the title of this cake has me drooling! Have a blessed day!

This sounds so scrumptious - and surprisingly contemporary. It's lovely to think that coffee has been flavouring desserts for decades (or longer).
ReplyDeleteJoyful wishes to you, sweet soul, for a marvelous November!

My Beloved MIL used to make this cake. It's a winner. We like it with vanilla frosting.
