We make a version like this for everyone's birthday cake. We use the juice in the cake, and the frosting, and loads of pecans. Yummy, and always a family favorite.
I love chocolate and I love fruits, but for some reason I am a rare one who doesn't like them cooked together. I can eat a chocolate covered cherry happily, but I don't like cherries, raspberries or oranges cooked into my chocolate!
This sounds delicious. I have a nephew who would adore this cake (and I'd have to help him eat it, too!) Thanks for sharing all these wonderful recipes with us!
My mother once made something like this for my birthday. She thought pink for the girl. I hated pink but loved sweets of course so didn't complain. When she asked what kind of cake I wanted, I said "purple". She flavored the frosting with grape jelly. It came out grayish lavender. But delicious!
As a lover of all things vintage, I write about our cottage home, inspirational decorating, vintage finds, thrifty buys, and old-time recipes. I have many additional interests such as reading, writing, blogging, arts and crafts, and quilting...I write about these interests as well as about family, friends, shelties, nature and hobbies.

ReplyDeleteMy brother likes those plastic cherries. Maybe I will do this for his b.d.
